Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Pop'n Music 5 is the first Pop'n Music game that includes Internet Ranking, Challenge Mode, and 5-Line.
- Before each song begins, mods are available for you to set for the first time.
- This is the final game to limit songs exclusively to the stage number.
- This is the first game to receive EX charts. Much like when Hypers were introduced, few songs have them. EX charts would only be playable in the new EXtra Stage until Pop'n Music 8.
- This is the only Pop'n Music game with Free Mode 2, which keeps track of the number of greats, goods, and bads you have. Pop'n Music 7 onward, however, show the number of greats, goods, and bads you have in a song in almost every mode. You only have 2 songs, but you can play the same song twice, a first in the series.
- All songs prior to Pop'n Music 4 have been removed due to memory limitations. Every pop'n music AC game through Pop'n Music 8 would continue to only have the current AC songlist and the previous game's. (Except in the case of licenses and songs in courses.) When Pop'n Music 9 came out and the series switched to PC hardware, all previously removed songs would be revived.
- Takayuki Ishikawa (dj TAKA) makes his pop'n music debut, as does Kida Shunsuke. In addition, Sugimoto Kiyotaka and Osamu Migitera start writing their own music for the series, and CG designer shio becomes a full-time staff member.
- The time gap between this and 4 was the longest of the series when the games were still in production (13 months with no new games).
- In the console version, Pop'n Music 5 have infamously stupid unlocks, which were made up for in Pop'n Music 6 with ridiculously easy ones.
- Pop'n Music 5 features HI-SPEED 3 and 4, but was first introduced in Pop'n Music 6.
- An odd fact reveals that each character switches his/her color palette to 2P continuously. This is the only website that does this.
