- Nohoho is based on the kappa, a monster in Japanese folklore. Unlike a typical kappa, Nohoho doesn't like cucumbers.
- Nohoho's birthdate is in honor of the kappa, a day derived from the anniversary of Ryūnosuke Akutagawa's death, who wrote "Kappa." Since he killed himself in the same year he wrote it, the day is commonly referred to as the "kappa mourning" (河童忌 kappaki?).
- In the seventh stage of the eAMUSEMENT event "Golden Welcome Campaign," an image of Nohoho, Tanaka-san and Mr. Aoki with kappamaki sushi can be acquired.
