Bemani is a general brand name given to all of Konami's rhythm and music simulation series. The brand was originally named Games & Music Division (G.M.D.) until it was changed in 1999 in honor of its first successful game, Beatmania. The name Bemani is a Japanese syllabic abbreviation of Beatmania. Following the success of Beatmania, the line was expanded with other music-based games throughout the years.
The Pop'n music franchise is part of the Bemani.
